F is for Flu

The flu bug has struck the Shannon household. Brady boy initiated us into the baby world of vomit on Wednesday morning at 5:00am. I walked into his room to find he had transformed into a volcano overnight. Mt. Saint Pukester. If you have ever seen a little one ralph then you know it is traumatic. The up chucking persisted for 3 more days and finally concluded yesterday. It got to the point where I stopped changing my clothes. Why I had to be in such close proximity I have no idea, I guess that's what Mom's do.
Yesterday we were rejoicing in the fact that Brady finally ate something and kept it down. Not to disappoint SIR flu bug, Jeff and I picked up where Brady left off. So who takes care of Brady when both parents are down for the count?? We can't subject family and friends to our germy little homestead. SO, who else?? Trusty Bill. He is amazingly reliable even though he doesn't have thumbs. He played Brady's signing video, changed his diaper and nursed him with his tiny teets (Meet the Parents reference).
So here we are on recovery Sunday. I think the thick of the storm has passed.

You know, Brady had mentioned trying to get rid of some of those Holiday pounds, but this is ridiculous.

Party of Four

Brady boy is going to be a big brother! Whoaa! This party of three will be adding a family member by August 21st. OMG! We are 11 weeks along and as you can see Brady is thrilled. I have to admit that the second pregnancy is not nearly as exciting as the first. It must be the novelty of it all OR the fact that I'm extremely distracted by a busy 18 month old.
We have already lovingly named this baby Earl. Charming. Our little biscuit earned this name by the insatiable desire for fried food and long, long naps.

On another note.... Brady has been exploring body parts. This identified body part is the only one appropriate for film. The other part of extreme interest is "studied" during diaper changes and bath time. You get the picture.
If you find yourself holding Brady in the near future don't be surprised if he points out your ears...aggressively. He is fascinated by the fact that 99% of people have 2 ears. He will start on your left and then give your chin a swipe to the right and POW there's #2. Winner. winner, chicken dinner!

PT Par-tay

Brady and Miss Sarah working the core!

Here is some footage from Brady's weekly PT session at Childrens. I am so impressed with his ever growing strength. He works so hard every week and I am so proud of him. I don't think there is a lazy bone in his body. When he first started using the walker (2 weeks ago) he barely took a single step. It looked more like a dragster than a walker. Talk about improvement.

Go Brady GO!

Entertaining

Brady has figured out yet another way to entertain us. This absolutely cracks us up. Enjoy!

Tunes

Brady started music class today at Baby Maestro. He could hardly wait to shake his tail feather. I believe it's that booty pop'n that lured this little filly into his lair. He had a great time banging his drum sticks and groove'n to the beat.

Brady is still doing great after his surgery. He bounced back and has been a pistol ever since. He sleeps so soundly that it actually makes Jeff and I nervous. We have been so accustomed to the obstructive and snoring sounds that silence is ire. It's peaceful at the Shannon house. Ahhhhhh!

Post Op

We are HOME....already! I was prepared for the worst and we got the BEST. Brady did amazingly well through the whole process. He knocked this one out of the park. We are so thankful and so proud of him. He is back to himself, playing, eating, drinking and womanizing.
The Doctor said Brady's adenoids were "extremely large" and by removing them the obstructive sleep apnea should be fixed. His tonsils have been 90% removed, creating a much roomier airway. The Doctor also did another bronchoscopy to check his airway and see if there is damage from Brady's chronic reflux. Well, all looked great. His esophagus is in tact and has somehow been spared by the reflux Gods.
Last night Brady slept great. He still snores like an 300lb bear, BUT he didn't obstruct and his SAT level stayed at a 95 or above. In a previous sleep study Brady's SAT (oxygen saturation) dropped to a 53, which is dangerous and extremely unhealthy. The snoring should subside after the swelling and drainage goes away. Until then he won't be having any overnight guests and Jeff and I are investing in some quality ear plugs.
We are thrilled to be home and so relieved that the surgery went so well. This was by far the easiest of our hospital stays. Next up...the balls....March 2010!

Sugery

Brady went to the ENT on Tuesday because he has begun the ever dreaded obstructive breathing in his sleep again. We have determined that the obstruction is due to his large adenoids and tonsils. SO the solution is to have them removed. Brady is scheduled for surgery at Childrens on Tuesday, this TUESDAY! Yikes. I'm not worried about the adenoids, but the tonsils are turning my world upside down. Typically surgery isn't performed until the child is at least 3 years old. Well, Brady is about half that. Ugh! He will be in the ICU for a couple of days and then another 5 days for recovery time. This is a tricky procedure because of Brady's small airway and Laringomalaysia (floppy larynx). We have a great Doctor and I have great faith in him. After all this is done hopefully Brady (and Mom and Dad) will be able to sleep peacefully. I'll keep you posted as time permits. For now we are just trying to distract ourselves and teleport to a warm beach.

Holiday

"Post Holiday Sass"

Have you missed us? Brady decided to take "Holiday" from the blog. He figured that everyone else was taking vacation and he should be no exception. Apparently PTO is now part of his contract. Personally, I think he's suffering from a bit of post Holiday depression. I saw a tear roll as I took down the Christmas lights and packed away the talking Santa. Now all he's left with are a few extra pounds and some stupid elf on the shelf. In order to compensate for the dumps I have really been talking up the Easter bunny. It seemed to lift his spirits a bit, but baskets of eggs can't compete with a fat man in a funny suit bearing gifts!

Brady has started officially crawling, no army drag-ster. He now cruises from one end of the house to the other on his hands and knees. It is impressive. He has also been pulling up on the furniture and the flower pot. The furniture is fine, but the pot full of dirt is a bit annoying. He grabs fits full of dirt and throws it about the room. He thinks it's hilarious. I beg to differ.
